I found an association

Everyone living in Finland has the right to assemble and found an association. Founding an association is worth while if you and several others share a good cause, idea or hobby which you would like to represent together. Many different kinds of associations exist, such as political, sports and cultural as well as charitable associations.

It is easy to found an association in Finland. An association can be founded by a minimum of three people (all of whom must be 15 years of age or over), but it is a good idea to get more people along. The chairperson of the association must be 18 years old or over. Citizens of other countries living in Finland are also able to found, join and be on the board of associations. The chairperson and vice chairperson of the association must be permanent residents of Finland.

More information about founding an association can be found on the Register of Associations website as well as the Finnish Refugee Council’s Organisation Incubator Project web pages.
