I belong to a political party
Political parties bring together people with similar views and opinions. It is often easier to get a message across to key decision-makers through a political party. Each party has something different to offer to voters in terms of ideas and values.
There are currently 16 registered political parties in Finland. Eight of these are parliamentary parties, which means they have received enough votes to have their own representatives in Parliament.
In addition to political parties, there are also political youth and student organisations. These are organisations which are aimed at young people with views that are similar to those of a particular party.
More information about political parties and youth and student organisations can be found on the The Web School of Active Citizenship web pages.
